American Strategic Insurance set to open new headquarters
St. Petersburg, FL (May 20, 2013) – American Strategic Insurance (ASI) will unveil its new three-story headquarters during a ribbon-cutting ceremony set for 3 p.m. May 21, 2013.
"Our new headquarters is a symbol of the company's success and a celebrated milestone," said John Auer, ASI’s CEO. "As we progress in our 16th year of operation, I look forward to enjoying the work environment that is focused on employees and fosters our values of attitude, speed and innovation."
The project’s developer is St. Petersburg-based Echelon LLC, and the general contractor is The Perry Company of Tampa. The facility was designed by CSJM Architects Inc. of St. Petersburg. The project is expected to attain the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, Silver certification. Its design includes the use of recycled materials, enhanced building control systems, reduced water usage and efficient HVAC systems.
The new building, which is designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane, is the first of two slated for the site. Some features of the building are an employee gym, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a recycling room, a bicycle storage room and a high-tech security system. Construction on the second building has already started and it is scheduled to be completed in about a year. It will house e-INS, a strategic partner of ASI’s, and an R’Club child care facility.
Besides the new building, the campus includes a five-story parking garage that faces Gandy Boulevard. The garage features more than 800 parking spaces. The campus, once completed, also will feature a courtyard amphitheater.
ASI employs 275 people locally, another 55 nationally, for a total of 330. E-INS, meanwhile, employs about 70. In the past 18 months, ASI has hired nearly 115 people. The jobs have ranged from claims adjusters to support personnel to underwriters. And for the past four years, ASI has been named by the Tampa Bay Times as one of the "Top Workplaces" in the area. It also has earned Florida Trend magazine’s distinction as one of "Florida’s Best Companies to Work For" from 2009-12.
Both ASI employees and the company are involved with a variety of charities. ASI is the main corporate sponsor of Tampa Bay Watch and works closely with PARC, the Pinellas Association of Retarded Children, on the company’s annual battery campaign. ASI employees and the company also raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund on an annual basis.
